Description

Siamese - Medium - Adult - Female - Cat - Gracie
Description
When Gracie first arrived at the shelter, we weren't certain she would survive; she was, without question, the most emaciated kitty we have ever taken in - horribly neglected and left to her own devices. There is evidence that she had kittens shortly before we found her, limp and nearly lifeless, ona broken-down porch couch... no kittens were found anywhere in the area. We are estimating her birthdate to be 10/28/03, so she is currently about 6 years old. She has filled out beautifully and regained her health, her soft fur, and her purrrrrsonality. Actually, I'd say she has a bit of an eating disorder - she eats EVERYTHING that is left out for her, and is becoming just a bit, well, to put it bluntly - FAT. She would benefit from two small set-size meals a day, rather than the free-feeding that is necessary at the shelter and her foster home. Her purrrrsonality is unique; she is a wonderful combination of cuddly and independent, and would be a fantastic apartment cat for a busy single person, or would do well with a calm home of 1-2 adults. Small children would probably be viewed as unnecessary annoyances by Gracie. She loves to sleep on the bed with her person; she enjoys being a "lap cat" when she's in the mood, but doesn't object to spending time alone. She does NOT like to have her nails trimmed (anyone have some of those anti-shark chain-mail gloves? ha)... she can intimidate even the toughest vet tech with one well-placed GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, and then turns right around and melts the hearts of everyone around her with a little "prrrrrt?" and head-rub. Gracie has lovely blue eyes, and a very endearing, slightly grumpy expression. Gracie is not particularly fond of other animals - she has learned to tolerate the cat and dog that are in her foster home, but she would definitely prefer to have all the laps, all the beds, all the food to herself. She is just starting to learn about play, but once she figures that out, I'd bet she'll want all the toys, too. Gracie is spayed and has been vaccinated with Feline Eclipse 4 and Rabies vaccinations. Adoption fee is on an optional voluntary donation basis - but we will screen with our usual adoption procedures to be sure Gracie goes to a great home. Adult pets are placed with a 30-day trial period, to give them and their families time to get used to each other. There may be more photos of this cat on our website, www.forgetmenotshelter.org/Cats (click on the individual listing). If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the online application at http://www.forgetmenotshelter.org/Application. If you have any trouble with the application, please email us at the contact email listed, and we will send you a Microsoft Word format application. After we finish the preapproval process, we can make an appointment for you to meet the pet, or if you are sure this is the pet for you, we can go ahead and make a placement offer. Can't come to Republic? We have regular monthly transports west to the Seattle area and east to Spokane. We also occasionally arrange special transports for a custom fee.
