Regardless of age, musical style, or ability, I believe that making music should be enjoyable. As very few of us go on to become concert performers, there shouldn't be the expectation, or the pressure, that you have to excel to enjoy. Once you enjoy music making you'll find that you will excel! My approach to music education is not rigid like many traditional methods, but rather to encourage students to be creative and help them achieve their own musical goals.
