It's HARVEST time!

This is the time of year we all look forward to as the vegis of our labors are all coming ready at the same time! Those of you who can or preserve are busy now! This week at the market we will have an abundance of summer and fall fruits and vegis for your enjoyment. Come early if you want to purchase a bushel or two to can or freeze or preserve! I have been making salsa all week from all the delicious tomatoes and a rainbow of peppers! Yum Yum! And if you are a planner and like to plan your preserving ahead, come to the market this week and pre-order large batches of produce for next week. Order cucumbers to pickle, tomatoes for pasta sauce or salsa or..., corn to freeze, peppers for salsa or for freezing or drying, garlic to last you through the winter, apples to make cider, and to eat.....

Please don't let the momentum slow down for this great food from our wonderful growers at our own local Market! Keep on reminding all your friends and all your neighbors to come to the market. Now that we are not brand new, some people need a short reminder-- so send them this email, give them a call, or shout over the fence! Following is a partial list of foods that will be available at this week's market:

* Naturally grown Potatoes Reds, Yukons, Russets (see note below)
* Sweet Corn
* Zucchini
* cucumbers
* tomatoes and tomatoes and tomatoes
* peppers --different varieties
* basil
* oregano
* mint
* thyme
* parsley
* sweet yellow plums
* sweet green plums
* garlic
* squash
* carrots
* dill
* spaghetti squash
* natural dog and horse treats
* herbal remedy pots (tea pots, pregnancy & breastfeeding pots)
* and more more more.... these are just the ones who let me know!

We have the possibility of melons again this week, they just keep growing I've heard.
We also have the possibility of more squash, apples and pumpkins --pie anyone?

Potatoes: Commercially grown potatoes have pesticides applied and then have the tops killed with an herbicide two weeks prior to harvest. I have been told that once you see this you will never buy commercial potatoes again... Well, we will have no chemical potatoes at the market this week, yukons, reds whites!

So tell everyone you know and a few you don't know and forward this to all your friends and we'll see you at the market!
